Brunch at Abilene SOOOOON
I’ve got good news. My often late-afternoon stop in the neighborhood, Abilene, is about to start serving brunch. And it’s not an extension of their current chicken fingers and burger menu. Nope, this brunch will be courtesy of the folks behind the southern-leaning Jimmy’s Diner in Williamsburg/Greenpoint (for local opinions, both raving and reviling check out reviews on Citysearch and Yelp) and hopefully include Jimmy’s "famous" free donuts. Also, the bathrooms have been updated. No more leaky toilets.
And sorry about the soft-core photo shot. I think I need to clean my iPhone lens …

alas, their happy hour got shorter and less cheap as well…
Anyone else remember this place when it was Hennessey’s? I’m talking long before it got all cleaned up, expensive, and yuppified, when it was nothing but a bar with a couch in the corner and a sheet for a slip cover.
Ah the good old days… I remember when there was nothin’ from way over there to way over here… absolutely nothin’ no damn yuppies ‘n their silly harlequin clothes and their smug attitudes. Fooy!
I just read about a new brunch at Body by Brooklyn Spa in Clinton Hill. They serve a full brunch in their café and then you can use their wet lounge (sauna, steam room, hot tub, cold plunge pool, etc.) for the entire day. It’s $54 for everything and you can eat in your bathrobe. I haven’t tried it yet but it seems like a good spot to take the wife.
