There’s a Turtle in the Park

Although I know that anything is possible anywhere, the anything is possible mantra seems particularly apt in New York. And so I give you this nice little turtle who appeared to be celebrating his birthday in McCarren Park yesterday.

Turns out the hat is just an easy way to keep track of Mr. Turtle (who is 7). I fed him carrots and grass. He was a nice turtle.

FYI. That is not a turtle. That is a tortoise. An African Spur-thighed Tortoise, latin name Geochelone Sulcata. They grow up to 200 pounds and need to be in 80+ temperatures. That thing will need a three bedroom apartment to itself and will shit and dig the floors enough to require some home remodeling within a few years. Who ever has that in NYC is a fucking jackass hipster with no brains. Next time you see them, tell them i said so. (it must have been cute though :-) )
