Back in the Saddle, One Less Brooklyn Blog
So, one of the first big pieces of Brooklyn news that I picked up on was that Brooklyn Record has been shuttered and disappeared from the web. This made me sad, as it did many blog-readers, and it made me wonder if the Brooklyn blog boom isn’t in a bit of a downturn, if that initial boom (was it two, three years ago) has started to settle. It’s entirely possible I’m basing this on my own decrease of attention to my blog, which is mostly based on a more demanding day job. Thoughts?

In the case of the Brooklyn Record I think it had more to do with the personal decisions by Brownstoner himself. How many blogs can one person manage, anyway? I can barely manage to keep up my blog, let alone keep up with all the other Brooklyn blogs.
I’m going to take the lack of comments as an agreement
It would seem to me that there is a slow down, at least in terms of blogs with a cultural edge. Though I would say that there has been a notable uptick in blogs on Real Estate. Seems people are too busy speculating on the Brooklyn real estate scene to be bothered with their own blogs.
Seems to me the blogging world is a little over saturated these days, with every last media company jumping on the bandwagon.
Look at the redesign of wired.com and beta.cnn.com.
I think sites like CNN.com miss the point entirely.
Even at the company I work for, the publishers have been clamoring to have a “blog” for some time. I keep asking them, can you explain to me what a blog is first? Usually they can’t give a solid answer, or they don’t understand that their style of writing would be different than print.
Yeah the way I read it was the the Brooklyn Record content was going to be included on Brownstoner…
I don’t see this as indicative of anything wider than a personal decision by Brownstoner.
Welcome back you guys!!
